Home to Major League Soccer’s newest franchise, the Inter Miami CF Stadium officially opened in 2020 when the club made its MLS debut. Built in just eight months, the 18,000 capacity arena has been given a full Inter Miami makeover and is decked out in the club’s pink, white and black colours.Â
On campus and online students, as well as alumni, are able to attend the Global Sports Summit event at the Inter Miami CF Stadium each year. The summit is based around 4-5 days of specially tailored talks, workshops and visits specific to the American sports industry.
Annual Global Summit
The schedule in Miami, like the summits at each GIS hub, will be based around four themes:
- From the pitch – hear from those who contribute towards the playing side of sport such as coaches, match analysts and sports scientists;
- From industry – find out more from those who’re responsible for what happens behind the scenes, including marketing managers, agents and media officers;
- From the boardroom – learn about how the big decisions are taken at clubs and organisations from the likes of chief executives and chief finance officers;
- Cultural activities – this will include visits to national landmarks, more of Miami's leading stadiums and at least one live sports fixture (subject to fixture lists).
Guest speakers for the summit will be confirmed closer to the event, but attendees will be able to hear from the leaders and key personnel at some of Miami’s leading sports and clubs.

Miami loves sport
No one can deny that Miami is one of the most exciting sports destinations in the US. Host to teams in the five major North American professional leagues – Major League Soccer (MLS), National Basketball Association (NBA), National ·ÉÑàÌåÓýÖ±²¥ League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB) and National Hockey League (NHL) – Florida’s most populated city is packed full of sports clubs, events and arenas with a long history of success.
Discover Miami
Famous for sun, fun and glamour, Miami is one of the key gateways to the United States from Europe. As the most southerly major city in US, this Floridian metropolis is home to a world-famous art deco scene, miles and miles of golden beaches and a thriving sports culture.
Traded between Spain, Britain and then the US, Miami started to become the important tourist destination it is today in the early 20th century as people began to discover its year-round climate and idyllic coastline. This is when the building boom started and the rich and famous began moving into the area, first in spectacular mansions and later the art deco architecture found near South Beach. The 21st century has seen Miami become one of, if not the, world’s key cruise destinations, serving over 20 cruise companies and 60 different passenger ships.
Miami has a long and proud Latin culture, with reportedly up to 70% of the city’s population identifying as Hispanic. This is reflected across the city, especially in Little Havana, the hub for Cubans arriving in town in the 1950s and 1960s – named after the island’s capital.
Do you prefer going to the beach or shopping? Maybe you’re a history buff? Unsurprisingly, Miami caters for all. Downtown Miami is known for its collection of both historic and modern buildings, and Little Havana is famed for its Latin galleries and bustling restaurants. Head over to Miami Beach to experience the glamour this city is famed for: Ocean Drive, South Beach, the historic Art Deco district – just remember your sun cream.
Dolphins, Heat, Marlins, Panthers and now Inter Miami. One thing Miami isn’t short of is elite sports franchises playing in North America’s leading leagues.
Given Miami’s European links and strong ties to Latin culture, good food is just around the corner in this city. Think flavour, think fresh, think filling. Empandas, Cuban sandwiches, Key lime pie, incredible sea food and alligator – whether it’s a street vendor or fine dining, all of this and more makes Miami a gastronomical delight.
