A truly global sporting city
Sport is a vital part of Manchester’s culture, with the city hosting the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the 2003 UEFA Champions League Final, and the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. The city is synonymous with footballing success and is home to two Premier League giants: Manchester City and Manchester United. Aside from football, there are large followings for rugby league, rugby union, ice hockey, cricket, cycling and netball, with UCFB’s partners - Manchester Thunder - a leading side in the Netball Superleague.
World-class music and culture
Manchester has produced world-famous artists such as Oasis, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, Joy Division and The Chemical Brothers and as such will be eternally associated with music culture. All of the world’s biggest singers and bands tour Manchester and there is a plethora of music venues to attend ranging from the Manchester Arena, the O2 Apollo and the Manchester Academy as well as hundreds of smaller indie venues.
In addition to the music scene, Manchester hosts a number of annual festivals and houses museums, art galleries and shopping centres, such as the Arndale and Trafford Centres, to rival any major global city.
UCFB has partnered with Unite Students Mill Point to offer all UCFB Manchester students vibrant, safe and centrally-located student accommodation in the heart of Manchester.Â
